ABOUT
Alison is a mixed‑media artist whose practice is shaped by a deep fascination with place.
Living on the East Coast of Scotland, she moves between the pulse of the city to the quiet and calm of the countryside, gathering impressions from both the human and natural worlds.
Alison’s love of travel, around the UK and overseas, offers her a continual source of wonder. She is drawn to fleeting gestures, shifting atmospheres and the subtle interactions between people and the environments they inhabit.
In her studio, these experiences settle into layers of watercolour, acrylic, collage and printmaking. Alison distils the defining elements of each location, translating them into textures, marks and colours that evoke memory as much as observation. Her work seeks not to replicate a place, but to reveal its essence — the quiet details, the rhythm of movement, the history and the feeling of being there. Her layered approach has also expanded into experimental sound and video work, along with collaborative projects that broaden the ways she explores place, connection and atmosphere.
A graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (2010), Alison exhibits her work regularly and shares new pieces through her online shop, offering free postage within the UK. Those who follow her practice can join her newsletter for early access to exhibitions and new releases, or connect with her on social media for glimpses into her evolving studio process.
